Shell Racing Solutions Radical Masters: Zandvoort, Race 2

25th July 2010

360 Racing’s Terrence Woodward and Ross Kaiser took a measured, clear win in the second Radical Masters race at Zandvoort, Holland this afternoon. A pitlane infringement saw early leader Jamie Patterson drop back, with Jaap Bartels second and Slip-Stream’s John Stanley and James Swift third.

The start was a packed affair, and although all cars made it through Tarzan, a light tap to Radical Netherland’s entry left him on the inside of the third corner, deploying the safety car. Jordan Grogor had made the best start and was half a second ahead when the safety car came back in, Swift in third and Woodward fourth. By lap seven, the top seven were still covered by less than 14 seconds, with the mandatory pit window opening two laps later.

Most drivers elected to pit immediately, with Patterson jumping up the order above Grogor’s replacement Kronfli. Further down the order, Radical Works Team driver Rob Wheldon had worked up the order to lead the Supersports class, but was later passed by UK Racing’s Cencetti and Fausti in the pits.  They lead the class victory to the finish, ahead of Colin Noble and Radical UAE’s Al Shamsi.

Kaiser, having taken over from Woodward, was now carving back up the field after a late pitstop. By lap 23 he had taken third place from Stanley, before picking off Bartels and Patterson on lap 25. This lead was held to the end, with Bartels second and Stanley third, just staying ahead of the catching Greg Hart.

The next round of the Radical European Masters takes place at the Hungaroring in four week’s time.
